The Simplest Way To Transition Your Winter Outfits Into Springtime Looks…And Still Stay Warm

Got spring style fever?

Me too! I’ve found it nearly impossible (and definitely less fun!) to not wear spring styles right now. There are so many exciting options featured in magazines and online, plus taking a complete pass on all the new cheerful spring colors, seasonal prints and fresh designs currently stocked in stores just seems like a missed opportunity.

Thankfully, Punxsutawney Pennsylvania’s groundhog, Phil, did not see his shadow over the weekend, signaling an early spring.

The problem is…brr, it’s still cold outside!

The easiest way to cure a case of spring style fever, despite the cold weather, is to make the transition slowly and begin incorporating simply one spring piece into your work and weekend outfits now.

Here’s seven simple ways to achieve the look, today:

The Trouser Pant: Simply swap your winter staple black trousers for a pair in a delightful spring color.

The Dress: Grab one of your favorite spring dresses from your closet and pair with winter accessories.

The Blouse: Replace your winter jewel-tone blouses with a pop of spring color for an instant style update.

The Denim: Substitute your dark wash blue, black, gray or even winter red jeans for a pair in a fresh spring color.

The Accessory: Add one accessory in traditional spring colors or materials like turquoise or coral jewelry, or a woven straw handbag, or a citrus colored lightweight scarf to remedy a case of spring style fever. The options are endless!

The Jacket: Okay…so this outfit does incorporate more than one spring piece, but it was so beautifully styled I couldn’t resist! The reality is you could simply include just one of these pastel pieces…like the jacket and instantly update your winter look with a dose of springtime zest.

The Tee: Stripes are a huge spring trend again this year! Wear a traditional spring print like nautical stripes or florals or checks right now under a winter puffer vest or coat over the weekend or blazer jacket during your work week.

It’s true! A little does go a long way…simply integrate one spring piece into your current work and weekend outfits and you’ll be a vision of spring in no time!

Being in Seattle, I feel like Spring is sooooo far off. I’m still ensconced in wool and down. Think I’ll have to swap out my dark wool scarves with some pastels until it warms up more here (like, in June….sigh). Nevertheless, a thought-provoking post!
