Fashion News: Fashion’s Night Out 2010

Fashion’s Night Out PSA video

Join retailers, fashion insiders and celebrities on Friday evening, September 10th for the biggest fashion party of the year!

Now in its second year, Fashion’s Night Out, a worldwide initiative to celebrate fashion and support local economies, was launched in 2009 by Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the city of New York in response to the economic downturn.

Since last year’s event was a huge success, check out video and photo gallery highlights. This year’s event plans to be bigger and better than ever. More than 100 cities across the country and 17 nations around the globe plan to participate. Many stores will stay open until 11pm.

Although discount sales will not be promoted during this event, it is a wonderful and unique opportunity to support the fashion industry, which diligently continues to keep us looking and feeling our best, plus meet and greet designers and industry insiders. Since most of us are already planning to jumpstart our fall/winter wardrobe, this experience will certainly add some extra fun! There will be plenty of dancing, drinking, socializing, exclusive designer goods, mini fashion shows, raffles, swag bags, celebrity sightings, beauty events and, of course, shopping!

Prior to Friday night’s event, on Tuesday, September 7th we can watch live coverage of Fashion’s Night Out: The Show on CBS.com. This will be the largest public fashion show in New York City’s history. It takes place at Lincoln Center with over 200 models showcasing the best of Fall 2010 fashions. Otherwise, this is an exclusive in-person event for American Express card members only.

Let’s be sure to set our Tivo’s, too, because the following week, on Tuesday, September 14th, on CBS, there will be a one hour primetime special, Fashion’s Night Out 2010, that takes viewers behind-the-scenes of FNO pre-planning and events, the FNO fashion show, plus features on individuals working in all parts of the fashion industry. Mine is already set!

I also wanted to point out that the FNO council has gone to great lengths to create so many ways for us to be informed and to get involved for this year’s event. Check these out:

  • Charming FNO logoed t-shirts, tanks, and hoodies (40% of sales proceeds to benefit the NYC Aids Fund)
  • Create your own itinerary for NYC events
  • List of worldwide events
  • Download FNO’s free app for info on all events, celebrities and fashion
  • Follow FNO on Twitter for of the moment details

  • Let’s shop for a good cause and have a fantabulous time doing it!
